According to Captain Jason Zeller of the Glendale Fire Department, the fire began in the home of the Skubas’ at about 3 a.m. The house is located near 59th Street and Olive Avenue. The fire captain said neighbors made a 911 call about the fire.

The neighbors told the firemen that two people were trapped inside the burning house. When the firefighters arrived, they found the house engulfed in flames with extreme heat and smokes. Zeller said they made a fast and aggressive attack inside to get the victims out.

They brought out Stephen and Robert, but the older man was already dead, and the medics pronounced him. Robert was taken to the hospital in an ambulance, where he later passed away. Firefighters and investigators are working hard to find the cause of the fire.

Initial accident reports on the fire indicated that an electrical fault led to it. A press release by the fire department said that the block construction of the house would make it hard to trace the cause.

Despite that fact, the investigators and the insurance company are coordinating efforts to pinpoint the origin of the fire. The authorities used the tragic event as a reminder to all Glendale residents to install working smoke detectors.
