The car wound around the tree, and the impact caused it to catch fire. The Rodeo-Hercules Fire Department, one of the first responders, arrived to find Miller trapped in the front passenger seat of the burning car.
They got him out but could do nothing to save Miller, who was already unresponsive. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, identified as a 28-year-old male, had a compound fracture to his lower left leg, and he suffered internal bleeding and burns to his body.
An air ambulance took the driver to the hospital for treatment, and there’s no update on his condition at the time of this report. The police suspect that the young man was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing, and the authorities will release updates as things unfold. A proof of DUI by the police would lead to the arrest of the driver. He would have to hire a drunk accident attorney for legal representation.
