The police said that Tombo was wearing dark clothes and sleeping under some garbage in the alley. The truck driver, who was not named, didn’t see the deceased and ended up hitting him.

Tombo stood no chance of survival as he had significant trauma, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. The accident is still under investigation, and there’s no additional information at this time.

Accidents aren’t uncommon in the State of Arizona, and the Arizona Department of Transportation gathers the statistics. In 2017, there were more than 127 000 motor vehicle accidents in the city.

Out of that number, over nine hundred people died, with about 38 000 having severe bodily injury. Impaired driving was one of the common causes of the accidents, and continues to be a factor.

The accident reports in Arizona show that one of the common types of auto collision in the state is rear-ended crashes. Another is speeding too fast for conditions, and disobeying traffic lights and signs. Drivers should exercise due care when on the road, to ensure their safety and that of other road users.
