Police responded to an accident on the 2400 block of Georgia Street around 10 p.m. on March 25. At the scene, they found 20-year-old Sasha A. Davidson, who had been walking down the street when he was struck by a truck.
Based on preliminary reports, the driver of the truck, a 41-year-old man, was driving northbound when he struck Davidson. The identity of the driver has not been released publicly.

First responders at the scene were able to stabilize and transport Davidson to an area hospital. The extent of the injuries were not apparent until after Davidson reached the hospital. Personnel pronounced the pedestrian dead shortly after arrival.
The Amarillo Police Department has not issued any charges or citations against the driver of the truck. It is unclear if any contributing factors are to blame in the accident. There was no mention that drugs or alcohol is suspected.
An autopsy of Davidson’s body has been ordered to help determine if additional factors were at play in the accident. This will also help determine the actual cause of death.
The Amarillo Police Department, Traffic Investigation Unit, is currently in charge of the investigation of the accident.
More information should become available once the autopsy is completed and the determination of the cause of the accident.
There was no mention if the driver of the truck was injured in the collision. Police also did not say where in the roadway, Davidson was walking at the time of the accident.
