The Illinois State Police released information regarding a Tuesday, March 17, accident. They were called to the scene around 9:32 a.m. along Illinois Route 121.

The accident occurred when a Jeep, being driven by 57-year-old Karen Bline, attempted to pass a semi that was slowing down in front of her. Bline was not able to see the car in front of the semi that was slowing down to turn left onto Cumberland County Road 1000N.

When Bline went around the semi, she collided into the driver’s side door of a van being driven by Norbert Wolke of Montrose. Both the jeep and the van came to rest in the southbound lane of Illinois Route 121.

The semi and its driver were unharmed in the accident.

Emergency services were called to the scene of the accident. Bline was taken to a local hospital for treatment of her injuries. Paramedics released that her injuries were not life-threatening. Bline was the only person in the jeep at the time of the accident. It is unclear if she was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.

Wolke had one passenger in his van at the time of the accident, Ruth Wolke. Their relationship was not disclosed in the report. Both of the occupants in the van refused medical treatment at the scene of the accident.

The Illinois State Police gave Bline a citation for practicing improper passing. It is unclear if more citations or charges will stem from the accident at this time.
