The impact of the collision expelled the cyclist from his bike, causing him to crash violently onto the road. The operator of the GMC stopped at the scene and placed a distress call to the CHP, reporting the tragic accident.
Just as he rounded up the call and was returning to the wreck, he reportedly witnessed another car, a 1999 Toyota Camry, hit the bicyclist where he lay unconscious on the No. 1 lane of Road 26. The driver of the Toyota also pulled over and waited on the scene until authorities arrived.
Paramedics responding to the accident pronounced the Madera local dead. Both motorists cooperated with the police and were not arrested. Investigators determined that neither of the drivers was under the influence of alcohol prior to the collisions.
While the drivers of the GMC and Toyota have been identified as Nicanor Carlos Garcia and Jamie Rodriguez respectively, the identity of the deceased was withheld pending the notification of the family.
