There were four other passengers in the Nissan at the time of the accident. Two of them were transported to the hospital because they sustained minor injuries in the car accident. There were no other reports of gunshot wounds except for Booker’s.
Booker was taken to St. Catherine Hospital from the accident scene where the police found him and the passengers. He was pronounced dead a short time later.
Police said it appeared that all of the cars that were hit by the Nissan were parked vehicles. The detective bureau plans on interviewing all of the parties involved in the accident. At this time, they have no information regarding the shooting.
Because this is considered an active homicide investigation, the identities of the four passengers are being withheld at this time. The police have no suspects in the shooting of Booker at this time.
They are asking that anyone who has information to call into their anonymous tip line at 219-391-8500. A private message can also be sent via the East Chicago Police Department’s Facebook Page.
