The Illinois State Police were called to an accident that occurred on Thursday, March 12, on Illinois Route 140. The accident happened around 7:03 p.m. when 18-year-old Aiden Lee Young crashed his vehicle near Fayette County Road 475 East.
According to the preliminary report put together by the Illinois State Police, Young was driving west on Illinois Route 140. He lost control of his vehicle, and the front of it struck the concrete guardrail of the bridge, which was where it sat when they arrived at the scene.

The police have not determined a cause for Young leaving the roadway. Rural Med EMS transported him from the scene of the accident to the Fayette County Hospital for treatment. The reports did not indicate the severity of the injuries that Young received as a result of the accident.
Young was the only person in the car. There were no other vehicles involved in the accident. The police did not report if Young’s car did any property damage at the scene.
Young was given citations for failure to reduce his speed to avoid an accident and for not having insurance on his vehicle.
It has not been made clear that the only factor in the accident was speed. The police are currently investigating the accident. There has not been any mention of impairment in conjunction with the accident.
