The Dodge ended up rotating counterclockwise and traveled back into the northbound lane of Georgia Highway 60. A northbound semi owned by Fieldale Farms was traveling northbound on Georgia Highway 60 and struck the right side of the Dodge.

After the initial collision, both cars went off of the road. They traveled down an embankment located on the west side of Georgia Highway 60.

Novotny then hit a tree with the left side of his vehicle along with the truck. This was where the vehicles finally came to rest.

The accident was reported to the Georgia State Patrol around 11:48 a.m. based on the records released regarding the accident.

The driver of the semi-truck was identified as 36-year-old Alan Garcia of Murrayville. He was uninjured in the accident.

The Georgia State Patrol pronounced Novotny dead at the scene of the accident.

Based on the evidence at the scene of the accident and the investigation done thus far, no charges will be filed regarding the collision.
