A 42-year-old woman named Kelly Maeve Scott was killed in a hit and run accident in Tempe, Arizona at around 2:30 am on Sunday, February 16th. The accident took place when Kelly and a man were crossing the road near Mill Avenue and University Drive. While they were crossing the road, a vehicle hit both people.
Following the accident, the driver sped away and never came back to the scene of the accident. The accident left Maeve Scott dead and left the man seriously injured. However, despite the fact that the man was seriously injured, he survived the accident.

Despite the fact that the driver did not stop, police were able to track him down. The name of the man who caused the accident is Clyde Thatcher. Thatcher has been arrested and is awaiting criminal trial for manslaughter, aggravated assault, and hit and run.
Impairment is believed to be the cause of the accident. The man was not speeding, he simply appears to have made a bad driving mistake due to being under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
Kelly Maeva Scott was beloved by her community, and she will be missed. The man she was with is expected to make a full recovery. Following the accident, the road was closed for a number of hours. However, it was reopened once all of the debris was cleared and once the the police had finished their investigations.
