Genea Sky is considered a contractor and not a full-time employee at XTC Cabaret in Dallas. The club is owned by RCI Hospitality Holding, Inc. and the CEO, Eric Langan, told media outlets that they are not responsible for the injuries Sky sustained while working there.
He also went on to say that the dancers come up with their own acts and at no time did they advise them to climb the poles on the stage. The question was raised about having the poles removed and Langan said that will not happen.

Because she is not considered a full-time employee, she is not covered under worker’s compensation insurance coverage but Langan says that they will financially help the dancer so that she can focus on her health and getting better.
The accident happened over the weekend on a stage at the XTC Cabaret. Sky was approximately 15 feet above the stage doing a routine on the pole when she lost her grip. Viral videos that have been shared online show the dancer fall to the stage.
It was assumed that she was okay because she kept on with her act.
When the video began going viral, she spoke out about how she truly was injured in the fall. She broke her jaw, sprained her ankle, and chipped teeth. She had to have surgery on Monday to correct her jaw, which was inevitably wired shut.
Since her initial interaction with the public, the dancer has kept her newfound fans updated on the progress with her injuries.
Not everyone has had kind words or inspiration to share with Sky, but it hasn’t seemed to affect her and her positivity regarding the accident.
A friend has started a GoFundMe page to help with the medical expenses and lost income that Sky will face until she is able to go back to work.
The growing fundraiser keeps bringing in all kinds of people supporting her recovery. The last tally shows $36,540 of the $20,000 goal that was requested.
