On Wednesday, February 5th, two puppies were saved from a fiery pickup truck wreck after a pickup truck crashed into a gas pump outside a convenience store in Mesa, Arizona. The truck caught fire following the crash, and the driver ran away from the scene as fast as he could.

The driver was later found by Mesa police and was intoxicated. This was seemingly the motivation for fleeing his pickup truck and his two dogs. After the crash, the pickup truck caught fire and the two dogs were trapped inside the burning vehicle.

However, when members of the Mesa Fire Department arrived on the scene, they were able to quickly put out the fire and rescue the dogs from the pickup truck. Both puppies were injured in the fire and had melted plastic covering parts of their fur.

However, both are expected make full recoveries. The puppy that was in the front seat of the vehicle was injured more severely. This is because the majority of the fire was concentrated in the front of the truck.

After the driver of the truck was tracked down, he was arrested and is now facing DUI charges. Driving under the influence is believed to be the cause of his crashing into the gas pump.

The fire could have been much worse considering the fact that it occurred at a gas pump. However, the fire did not cause the gas pump to explode, luckily. If it did, it is likely that both dogs would have been killed and damage to the gas station would have been much more severe.
