California Highway Patrol officers had been pursuing a pickup truck since it sped through a red light before merging onto the 405 Freeway. Its driver refused to pull over when requested, and instead led officers on a chase across the interstate and then onto surface roads in the LAX area.
The pickup eventually T-boned a sedan at Glasgow and Olive, about a block west of the 405.
A female passenger died at the scene. The male driver was taken to a nearby hospital, where he died a short time later.
The driver responsible for the collision attempted to flee the scene, but was apprehended before he could get far. Police found drugs in his truck, and believe he was high at the time of the crash. The man was treated for minor injuries, and faces several unspecified criminal charges.
Further investigations are ongoing.
