A 17-year-old boy named Stephen Luke Knight died in a car crash in Gilbert, Arizona on Friday, February 7th. The boy was a student at Higley High School. The crash occurred when Knight’s vehicle collided with another vehicle that had three people in it.
All three of the other people who were involved in the crash are believed only have minor injuries. Knight was the only fatality from the crash. The crash took place just miles from the high school were Knight was a student.

The community is devastated by the loss of Stephen Luke Knight. A vigil was held in his honor that was heavily attended by fellow students and members of the community.
Police are still investigating to determine the cause of the accident. It is not known whether or not factors such as impairment, speeding, or distraction played a role in causing the accident.
In the aftermath of the crash, Knight’s car was wrapped around a telephone pole at the intersection where the accident took place.
The car that Knight was in was completely destroyed. There was damage to the telephone pole as well. Following the accident, the intersection was closed so that police could investigate and collect evidence. The debris from the crash also had to be removed so that the area would be safe to drive in again.
