The victim worked with the Decatur Middle School as their physical education teacher and their athletic director. The school paid tribute to Richert on social media, describing him as a tremendous man who was extremely dedicated to the district, and passionate about sports programs and his family.

Most motor vehicle crashes are usually the direct result of the negligent acts of the drivers involved, but at other times, factors they can’t control lead to collisions. One of the latter is an underlying medical condition, and some of them include heart disease, poor eyesight, diabetes mellitus, and seizures.

Some states in the U.S. place restrictions on people with an underlying medical condition operating a motor vehicle. The limitation depends on the degree of the illness, and it also determines the degree of liability such a person would face in the event of an accident. There is no standard for deciding liability, and each case gets considered on its merits.
