The Kendall County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday, July 1st, identified the men who died in an accident east of Yorkville, Illinois. The car accident report update revealed their names as Jeremy Simkowski, 46, of 300-block of Country Drive, Yorkville, and Miguel Uribe, 25, of 800-block of Hedgerow Court, Oswego.

In a press release, the sheriff’s office said that Simkowski drove the car involved in the accident, while Uribe was his only passenger. The two men were westbound on Reservation Road when their vehicle left the road and struck a tree.

When deputies arrived at the scene at about 10:56 p.m. on Tuesday, June 30th, they found the wrecked vehicle in the tree line, and Simkowski and Uribe were unresponsive. They pronounced them dead at the scene. The occurrence was a single-vehicle crash, and the KCSO had the assistance of the Oswego Police.

Motor vehicle crashes at night are not uncommon, and several factors influence them. They include speeding, weather conditions like snow, rain, or fog, bad roads, and animal sighting.  Drivers can mitigate these factors by following safety tips for driving at night.

The latter includes turning on the headlights at full beam, as a car is only visible four times the distance its headlight can get to. Avoid speeding, use tires fit for the weather, and avoid distractions; paying attention and scanning the roadway allows a driver to see an animal about to cross the road in time to avoid a collision.
