Sheriff Jim Hart of the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office said the deceased was one of the most beautiful souls of their community. In an earlier accident report, the Santa Cruz Police Department disclosed that Endert passed away after a car struck her while she was walking on Seabright on Monday afternoon, June 15th.
The SCPD said they received a call about a pedestrian injury at the intersection of Murray Street and Mott Avenue around 2:12 p.m. When officers arrived at the scene, they found the pedestrian and a 15-year-old female lying on the roadway and conveyed them to Dominican Hospital.
Endert died while receiving treatment, while the teenager is alive, but in serious condition. The driver that struck the two, Mark Zembrano, 18, remained at the scene, and the officers determined he was intoxicated. They arrested the male teen on charges of DUI, causing bodily harm and vehicular manslaughter.
The Suspect is at the Santa Cruz County Jail in place of a $240,000 bail bond. There is no additional information at this time.
