On Wednesday, June 10th, the San Bernardino Police Department, California, released details of a fatal accident in the city on Monday, June 8th. Sgt. The car accident report revealed that the victim and the suspect were racing each other on 9th east of Waterman Avenue around 10:15 p.m. Algetta was driving a Chevrolet Tahoe SUV, while Steven was behind the wheel of a Buick Century. Both vehicles were heading west on the 9th and attempted to pass a Toyota Camry on the roadway.

The attempt caused the Tahoe to roll over, strike a tree, a pipe, and a light pole. Algetta was ejected in the cause of the collision and suffered fatal wounds. Her passenger, a 21-year-old Buena Park woman, sustained undisclosed injuries and ended up in the hospital.

The police said Steven’s car struck the Camry, but he did not sustain any wound. The 28-year-old San Bernardino man driving the third vehicle and his passenger were also unharmed. The SBPD is actively investigating the occurrence, and anyone with relevant information should contact the station.

Under California law, street racing is illegal, and offenders are liable to spend between 1 to 90 days in county jail and pay a fine of $1000. The vehicle used in the race would also get impounded for 30 days.
