Thorne at 5:52 a.m. Thursday was driving her pickup truck eastbound on FM 436 when she approached a curve in the roadway near the school, according to authorities. Thorne did not successfully navigate the turn, causing her truck to veer off the roadway and flip, car accident reports state.
Thorne succumbed to her injuries before she could be transported to an area hospital for treatment, according to a local justice of the peace.
Thorne was alone in her vehicle at the time of the wreck. No other injuries were reported, according to authorities.
The Texas Department of Public Safety continues to investigate the incident. Car accident reports released Friday do not say whether investigators believe intoxicants, speed or inattentive driving might have contributed to the incident.
An obituary was Thorne was posted by her loved ones shortly after the crash.
“She spent many years as a home health aide,” the obituary read. “Her greatest joy was being a mom to her (son) and loving her friends and family.”
