State of Michigan authorities said drug use likely is a contributing factor in a single-vehicle crash Tuesday morning In Ionia County that claimed the life of a driver.
Thirty-year-old Bradley Forist, a resident of Grand Rapids, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which occurred at about 7:40 a.m. Tuesday, the Michigan State Police reported. Forist’s vehicle was the only involved in the wreck and car accident reports did not list any additional injuries that occurred as a result.

Forist at about 7:40 a.m. Tuesday was driving southbound on Michigan 66 when he lost control of his vehicle near Long Lake Road, according to authorities. Car accident reports state his vehicle drifted across the centerline and eventually went off the roadway, where it crashed into a tree.
Forist was the vehicle’s only occupant, troopers said. He was not wearing a seatbelt and he was pronounced dead form his injuries at the scene of the crash, according to car accident reports available Wednesday evening.
The Orleans Fire Department, the Belding Fire Department, the Ionia County Sheriff’s Department and Ionia County Central Dispatch assisted troopers at the scene, car accident reports state.
Michigan State Police continue to investigate the crash, and authorities have not determined what specifically caused Forist to lose control of his vehicle. However, investigators told local media outlets that drug use likely was a contributing factor, though they did not offer more details.
