Police said a Cook County man was intoxicated Tuesday night when he crashed his vehicle into a parked trailer on Chicago’s Northwest Side, injuring himself and two passengers.
Twenty-five-year-old Thomas Podgorny, of Norwood Park, was hospitalized shortly after the wreck, which was reported at about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday in Sauganash, the Chicago Police Department reported. Podgorny’s two passengers also were injured in the crash, but are in fair condition, according to authorities.

Podgorny was arrested on misdemeanor charges of driving under the influence and failure to notify damage, police reported. He also was cited with operating an uninsured vehicle, failure to reduce speed and failure to carry a driver’s license.
If he has not already done so, Podgorny will need to retain the services of a drunk driving attorney to aid in his defense.
Podgorny at about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday was driving in the 4600 block of West Devon Avenue when he made a U-turn, Chicago police said. During the turn, he crashed into a trailer parked nearby along the side of the road.
Podgorny’s passengers, a 22-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman, were transported to an area hospital for treatment after the crash. Police did not release identifying information for either passenger, though they informed local media outlets that the two are in fair condition.
Podgorny also was hospitalized for treatment of minor injuries before being arrested by authorities.
The Chicago Police Department continues to investigate the incident. Online court records available Wednesday afternoon do not say whether Podgorny has obtained representation from a drunk driving attorney.
