The services of a car accident lawyer would be required after an accident injured a Walla Walla, Washington, resident. 61-year-old Derek Z. Rasheed was injured on Thursday, April 9th, after a car collision.

The preliminary accident report revealed that Rasheed was traveling west in a Volkswagen Jetta on U.S. Highway 12. At about 10:41 a.m., the man slowed down to take the Rees Avenue exit. At the same time, Lacey R. Hender of Walla Walla, 32, was in a Lincoln Town car behind a Dodge Ram.

The latter was driven by a 36-year-old man, Pavel A. Pollshchuk, a resident of the city. The town car struck the Ram from behind, and the impact sent the vehicle into the back of Rasheed’s car.

The man then veered off the road, and Pollshchuk’s vehicle went on to hit a power pole and mailbox. Rasheed sustained moderate injuries, and the paramedics took him to Providence St. Mary Medical Center in Walla Walla.

The man’s condition is unknown at the time of this report. Neither Hender nor the driver of the Ram sustained any injury in the collision. The woman was cited at the scene and charged with failure to yield.

Washington’s failure to yield law considers it a traffic offense punishable with a ticket settled with a fine. However, it takes on a criminal nature when there’s a collision, and bodily harm or death occurs.

When that happens, the offending driver should acquire the services of a car accident lawyer to discuss liabilities and possible defense.
